FNRPG Playtest #5

(originally posted 3/8/24 on Facebook)

Today my Friday playtest group began playtest module #2! This module is much larger in scope than the previous one and will introduce some of the complexities found in FNRPG.

  1. Players leveled up. Earned skill points are limited, and while some aspects of the character advance automatically, the three species-specific abilities each character has do not. Instead, the player chooses one to advance. We will be keeping a close eye on this advancement model to make sure abilities remain useful throughout the character's adventuring career, and that they don't wind up underdeveloped or too restricted in the skills department.

  2. The party had opportunities today to role-play, haggle over goods, and make a couple of skill checks.

  3. The adjusted game systems were easier for the party to work with today and helped streamline things. I need to make another pass over magic to make sure it too is streamlined. These adjustments might make the current HP system a little too bloated, but next week they will be in combat, so we'll see how that goes.

That's it from today's playtest! Feel free to ask questions in the comments, and whatever you're playing, have a great time!
